Although there are many positive resources available online, there are just as many if not more toxic resources available online. A child can come across a pornographic website simply by typing the word BOY into a search engine. Predators online most often find their victims in chatrooms. You would be shocked to see how easy it is for these "professionals" to gather personal information from children. Have your computer with an internet connection in a room that recieves high traffic. Communcation with your children is vital. Children should know, that just like in reality, the virtual world has a lot of strangers. Tell your children to never give out personal information( name,phone number,school,hobbies). Children should feel confident in the right to say NO! If you suspect that your child has become a victim of online sexual exploitation, you should contact your local authorities, national center for missing and exploited children, or safeguarding our children.
